Creative outlet

Greetings and Salutations!

I have decided to try something new, something sort of unexpected and not my usual thang. I'm following two inspirational quotes. "When was the last time you did something for the first time?" And, "If it is to be, it is up to me!" I have had a lifelong love affair with, and an appreciation of music. I felt the need for a creative outlet. My work doesn't allow me to be too creative, so it's time to be startin' something!

Guilty Pleasures?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ibs3ttoMN0

Ever love a band or artist, BUT you keep it on the down low because you are too cool for school? Or are you a rebel and you love the music no matter what people say AND talk about it in public? If you're like me, then say YES I do!

I get ribbed incessantly or curious looks from friends and family because of my love for The Go-Go's! When their 1st album, Beauty and the Beat came out in 1981, I could not wait to get it! I had been introduced to this all girl, kick ass rock band by Rodney Bingenheimer (The Mayor of Sunset Strip) on KROQ. Rodney introduced LA to lots of great music that was happening here in L.A., all over the country, all over the world. I LOVED the Go-Go's! I remember being 21 and wanting to BE Belinda Carlisle! This Town was our song as we cruised around in Hollywood, partying and looking for a good time!

I tell people "you have no idea what The Go-Go's sound like if you have never seen them live." They are not the "bubble gum" cuties you've heard on the radio. They started out as a punk band and they have both an edge and a great sick sense of humor in concert!
Maybe it's an L.A. thing, but I still love these women, they f**king rock! I've seen them I think 8 times now. They always put on a great show!

  1. There are artists that I turned my nose up to because everyone else liked them! Bruce Springsteen is a perfect example of this...
I couldn't possibly like someone who was fawned over by the masses...
Luckily I am discovering Bruce's great work now. So if there is hope for a music snob like me, there is hope for you. Who are your "Go-Go's or Bruce"? I want to hear from you!
